Those Darn Widgets
Posted on | August 27, 2008 | 2 Comments
A lot of people have been downloading my Elements of SEO theme lately and I am very excited about all of the kind remarks I’ve been getting.
It has also come to my attention that when people are using various widgets in the theme the sidebars tend to get a little messed up. There appears to be two main problems that I’ll try and describe, just in case you run across the same problem.

Theme Update
Posted on | July 30, 2008 | 13 Comments
Now that Elements of SEO has been out in the wild for a little while I have been able to see how others have used it. One thing that I immediately noticed was when people implemented various widgets; a bullet would appear next to the heading.
I didn’t like how that looked so I decided to get rid of it. Now you can add as many widgets as you like and they will always look just like this demo site.
When I submitted this theme to the Wordpress Directory I had to add a few more features that would comply with the WP 2.5 standards. Here they are:
- Gravatar support
- Tag support
- Alignment classes: .alignright, .alignleft, .aligncenter
- Caption attributes to add captions directly under your photos (WP 2.6)
Download Elements of SEO 1.2 to get the new features and fix the widget heading bug.
An SEO Wordpress Theme for all

Elements of SEO, like it says above, is a free, clean minimalistic Wordpress theme. Built with search engine optimization in mind, Elements of SEO will help your blog get better rankings with little or no tweaking from you.
Immediately after installed, Elements of SEO is pre-built with all of the sidebar sections you see to the right. Elements of SEO is also widget friendly so you can opt to completely customize both sidebars.
Your already taking the theme for a test drive so there’s no need for that link but you can download Elements of SEO over here.
If you have any questions or problems check out the Elements of SEO post page to learn more.

With some blockquotes too of course…

and a suggestion by Steve Cooley for a blockquote within a blockquote:
